'CHASING THE SUN" - For this second album of original newgrass music, Cascade Crescendo returns with a range of sounds from fun, fast, high energy burners, to darker and deeper introspective works, with much left to diversely define the in-between. Their songwriting and arrangements show growth from the first album "Caught in the Rain", including catchy melodies with unique and timeless, yet modern lyrical content. The band stretches further into instrumental and often improvisational jams reminiscent of their live shows.
"Chasing the Sun" features the return of fiddle player Allie Kral (Yonder Mountain String Band) on the first single "Sailboat", "Empty Trains", "40 Years Late", and the epic, soaring song about kite-flying "Fly in the Window". Nick Werth (Yak Attack) also returns for the 2nd album to play drums on a pair of rhythmic, melodic ballads "Sky Explodes" and "Straight to the West". The group welcomes Anders Beck (Greensky Bluegrass) to this record, as he lends his incredible dobro licks to another of the singles "Every Little Thing", which is featured again in a stripped-down reprise form later on the album.
While still rooted in the foundation of bluegrass music, this album is well outside of the realm of traditional, and exhibits evidence of the band's diverse range of collective influences of funk, jam, folk, Americana and rock music. This album is sure to have something for everyone, and fresh, new music you'll want to share with your friends!

Featuring Allie kral on fiddle, Sailboat is "a reflective number expressing the feeling that many young adults encounter when realizing that growing up isn’t always all that it’s cracked up to be." - Bluegrass Today
